Frequently Asked Questions

  • Simply put, hiring a professional to help you get organized is easier than doing it yourself. I’ll bring a fresh perspective and creative ideas on how to make the spaces in your home work better for everyone who lives there. I believe in simple, functional, easy-to-use organizational systems.

  • Once we have a project plan, you can choose if you’d like to work alongside me or you’d prefer everything “done-for you.” I will sort items into keep, donate, relocate, and toss categories. If we are working together, you will confirm what happens to each item as we sort. If I’m working alone, I will clearly label the categories and ask you to make decisions before our next session.

  • Absolutely not. I will coach you through decisions about what to keep in your newly organized space, but it is 100% up to you what stays and what goes. Along the way, I will encourage you to consider how each item will move you toward or away from your project goals.

(Spoiler alert: If you have fewer items in a space, it’s easier to put them away — and find what you need!)

  • Please don’t! Seeing your spaces in their “natural” state will help me understand how you actually use your spaces, and be better able to offer solutions to your organizing challenges. I promise not to judge!

  • While I love a trip to the Container Store as much as the next organizer, it’s completely possible to be organized without purchasing bins or baskets. If we find products would be helpful for your project, it’s up to you whether we use what you’ve already got or would like to buy something new. Organizing products are not included in the cost of Second Nature’s services.

  • The length of a project depends on the size of the space, how many items are in it, and how quickly you can make decisions about what to do with your belongings. If you are working alongside me and can make decisions about your items quickly, your project will take less time.
